Invernum

Saturday 28 June, 7:00 PM | St Andrews Church Subiaco

Drawn from Latin and Italian roots meaning “winter,” Invernum captures the stillness and introspection of the season. Come explore these themes with the Winthrop Singers at our upcoming midwinter concert. As the days grow shorter, we’ll share a program of reflective and beautiful music centered around the Requiem — works that speak to rest, light, and remembrance.

This moving program features selections from the choral masterworks of Fauré, Duruflé, Rutter, and Sarah Quartel — each offering a unique lens on themes of rest, light, and transcendence.

Highlights include:

  • Requiem Aeternam and Lux Aeterna from Sarah Quartel’s Sanctum

  • Excerpts from John Rutter’s Requiem, including The Lord is My Shepherd, Pie Jesu, and the jubilant Sanctus

  • Excerpts from Maurice Duruflé’s Requiem, including Sanctus and Lux Aeterna

  • Movements from Gabriel Fauré‘s Requiem, featuring Libera Me, In Paradisum, and more

Accompanied by renowned organist Dominic Perisinotto, come along and let the Winthrop Singers guide you through a musical experience that contemplates sorrow not with despair, but with peace, memory, and a quiet hope. Invernum is a concert of stillness, warmth, and light within darkness — a midwinter requiem for the soul.
